HANTECH ENTERPRISE (Business Reg. No. 201603056203 / IP0448093-W) is a Gopeng, Perak installer of CCTV, automatic gates, alarm systems, network wiring, door access and smart-home automation. Earlier, ONEKEY BIZ helped HANTECH obtain its CIDB Grade G1 contractor registration — you can read that story in its own case study.

Getting the grade was only half the picture. During that process we walked the owner through something many contractors overlook: the CIDB grade registers the company, but every individual who physically works on a construction site needs their own CIDB Green Card. Once HANTECH understood how real that risk was — a RM5,000 fine per uncarded worker — the decision was easy.

The thing people miss

A CIDB grade is not the same as a green card

This is the most common blind spot we see: a firm proudly registers its CIDB grade, sends its people to site — and every one of them is still working without a green card. Under the CIDB Act, that is a fineable offence.

What is a CIDB Green Card (Kad Hijau)?
The CIDB Green Card — officially the Perakuan Pendaftaran Personel Binaan (Registration of Construction Personnel), issued under the CIDB Act 1994 (Act 520) — is the personal card that identifies a worker as a registered construction personnel. It is separate from a company's CIDB contractor grade: the grade registers the company, while the green card registers each individual who goes on site.
Do all site workers need a green card, and what is the penalty?
Yes. Every person carrying out construction work on site must be a CIDB-registered construction personnel and hold a valid green card. A worker found on site without one can be fined RM5,000, so for a team of several workers the exposure adds up quickly. Green-carding the whole team removes that risk.
How long does it take to get a CIDB Green Card?

Anyone who goes onto the construction site to carry out or supervise work should be registered as CIDB construction personnel and hold a green card — technicians, installers, site supervisors and working owners included. If a person is on site, they should have a card.
