Quick answer
SSM's company information products let anyone obtain a Malaysian company's registered particulars — company status, registered address, business activities, directors, shareholders and share capital — as recorded by SSM. This is an information search, not a statutory filing, and it is supplied without a company secretary's certification; order a certified true copy if a bank or agency needs one.

Overview
Before paying a supplier, signing with a subcontractor, extending credit or buying shares, the simplest due diligence is to see what SSM says about the other company: is it active, who are the directors and shareholders, what is its paid-up capital, and where is it registered.
SSM's information products provide exactly that from the official register. The data comes from what each company has lodged — incorporation information, notifications of director and shareholder changes, annual returns — so it is the most authoritative public source for a Malaysian company's particulars.
It is not a statutory filing and carries no Companies Act section of its own. It is also not a certified document: when a bank, embassy or government agency asks for a certified copy, you need a certified true copy issued by the company secretary instead.
