Overview
A business premise licence covers your normal day-to-day activity at a fixed location. A one-off event is different: an exhibition booth in a mall, a product launch, a roadshow, a concert or a festive bazaar brings temporary structures, crowds and often entertainment — and DBKL controls those separately through event permits and entertainment licences.
What DBKL needs depends on the event: the venue and whether it is indoor or outdoor, expected attendance, whether there is live performance or amplified sound, temporary structures and signage, and the event dates. Larger or public events commonly require clearances from the police and Bomba before DBKL will approve.
Timing is the usual problem. Event permits are applied for against a fixed date, and a late application leaves no room for the supporting clearances. We work back from your event date so every approval is in hand before setup begins.
