Quick answer
CIDB Grade G5 lets a company undertake construction works of up to RM5,000,000 per project. It requires paid-up capital of at least RM250,000, technical personnel that meet CIDB's requirements for the grade, and — to renew — 30 CCD points for each year of registration. Registration is issued by CIDB under the Construction Industry Development Board Act 1994 (Act 520); CIDB government fees are included in our fee.

Overview
Under the Construction Industry Development Board Act 1994 (Act 520), any company that carries out construction works in Malaysia must be registered with CIDB. Registration is by grade, and each grade caps the value of a single project you may take on: G1 ≤RM200k (RM10k capital) · G2 ≤RM500k (RM25k) · G3 ≤RM1m (RM50k) · G4 ≤RM3m (RM150k) · G5 ≤RM5m (RM250k) · G6 ≤RM10m (RM500k) · G7 unlimited (RM750k).
Grade G5 is for established contractors bidding larger commercial, industrial and infrastructure contracts. The two gates are paid-up capital — at least RM250,000, shown in the company's bank statements or audited accounts — and technical personnel, whose qualification and experience requirements rise with the grade. Applying for a grade the company cannot yet evidence is the most common reason for rejection.
Registration is not permanent. It is renewed for one to three years depending on the CCD (Continuous Contractor Development) points accumulated, and Grade G5 requires 30 points for each year of registration. Workers on site also need their own CIDB Green Cards, and government works need SPKK in addition to the grade.

Frequently asked questions
Can a new company apply directly for G5?
Yes, if it already meets the RM250,000 paid-up capital and technical personnel requirements when it applies.
Can we bid for government projects with this grade?
Government works also need the SPKK certificate; Bumiputera-reserved projects need STB.
What happens if we don't collect enough CCD points?
Renewal is shortened or refused, so plan courses across the registration period.
