Quick answer
A Malaysian trademark registration lasts ten years and can be renewed for further ten-year periods with the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO). A late renewal within the grace period attracts a surcharge; once that passes, the mark is removed from the register and protection is lost. We track the date and file the renewal.

Overview
Trademark rights in Malaysia do not last forever by default. A registration runs for ten years and must be renewed to continue — and owners often forget, because the decade passes quietly.
MyIPO allows renewal within a grace period after expiry with a surcharge. After the grace period the mark is removed from the register, and the owner must file a fresh application — during which a competitor could apply for the same or a similar mark.
Renewal is also a moment to review the portfolio: marks no longer used, new product lines not yet protected, and logos that have changed since registration.
